Small tides this weekend will mean good beginner white water all day. Expect gentle waves easy for learning!
Saturday 22nd February
Swell - 1.6 - 2m or 5 - 6ft
Wind - 15knts Southerly
High Tide - 5.32pm
Low Tide - 11.22am
The small tides this weekend mean that it will feel like mid tide all day. This is when Muriwai Beach is best for beginners with long, mellow white water waves. I also expect high tide to have some reforms for progressive surfers.
Beginners - I think the afternoon will be best with any time after 1pm looking great for learning. If you like getting up early, dawn to about 10.30am should be good too.
Look Out!! It could be okay, but to play it safe avoid the low tide.
Advanced Beginners - 3pm until 6pm looks best with some fun reforms to be around on the high tide.
Look Out!! Avoid the low tide around midday.
Intermediates - Maybe a wave on high, if you have the choice Sunday is looking a bit better!
Look Out!! Avoid the low tide around midday.
Sunday 23rd February
Swell - 1.3 - 1.5m or 4 - 5ft
Wind - 9 - 14knts Southerly
High Tide - 6.26am
Low Tide - 12.39pm
Very much the same as Saturday but with a little less wind, The smaller swell makes it more important to miss the lower tide.
Beginners - Pretty much the same as Sat, expect excellent beginner waves on the mid to high tides. Either dawn to 11am or 2pm onwards will be great options.
Look Out!! Avoid the low tide on the smaller swell.
Advanced Beginners - Dawn until 10am or 4pm onwards should both be options.
Look Out!! Avoid the low tide around midday.
Intermediates - Looking better with less wind and a size that you could potentially get out the back.
