Weekend Surf Report - Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd March

Writer: Dylan WallisDylan Wallis

It looks like it will be another beautiful weekend with fun waves. The small tides should make for great beginner waves and if you're around on Saturday come check out the Maori Bay Boardriders club comp that we've sponsored.

Beginner and Intermediate Surfers Weekend Surf Report

Saturday 22nd March

Swell - 1m - 1.3m or 2 - 4ft

Wind - Glassy early (no wind) with an afternoon SW sea breeze

High Tide - 3.40pm

Low Tide - 9.36am

The swell is dropping all day and the arvo high tide should make for a really good day for beginner and advanced beginner surfers. Intermediate surfers might want to go early with the lighter winds but there will still fun waves on the high tide too.

Beginners - Dreamy looking conditions from about 11.30am onwards for beginners. Expect to find nice gentle white water with the mid tide coming! My pick is 1pm - 6pm

Look Out!! If it's sunny the sand will be hot!

Advanced Beginners - High tide should be really nice, if the swell drops quickly you should be able to paddle out the back, if not you'll find some fun reforms. My pick is 2pm - 5pm.

Look Out!! If it's busy remember your surf ettiequte.

Intermediates - There should be fun waves early with less wind but it will have the most swell and be on the lower tide so make sure you're confident in your paddling. If you hold off the high tide will be fun too!

Look Out!! If it's busy remember your surf ettiequte.

Sunday 23rd March

Swell  - 1m - 1.4m or 3 - 4ft

Wind  - Super light all day

High Tide - 5.01pm

Low Tide - 10.51am

Another really nice looking day for all levels, the swell picks back up slowly throughout the day but that shouldn't matter because there will be fun small waves on the inside as the tide comes in.

Beginners - If you surfed super early you'll get some great waves otherwise wait until after low tide and surf from 1pm onwards.

Look Out!! Low tide might have a little more current.

Advanced Beginners - The afternoon should be really fun, with the tide coming in expect good waves from 2pm until dark.

Look Out!! The low tide is worth avoiding

Intermediates - Look for when the wind is lightest and you'll score! There should be windows with super fun waves all day.

Look Out!! N/A
